Nora Lee Jones

1922-2019

 

Nora Lee Jones passed away from pneumonia at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the age of 97. 

 

Nora Lee overflowed with grace, love and joy.  Her smile and caring heart would light up a room and bring warmth to all who were around her.  Above all things she loved Jesus and deeply desired a heart and a life that was pleasing to him.  Nora Lee’s love, faithfulness, prayers and example for God touched many lives.  She loved to sing and led worship in her church for many years.  She cared for all of her family with sacrificial love.  She was seen as a grandmother to so many in her family.  She loved her dogs and cats. She loved the outdoors and gardening. Nora Lee’s radiant love and joy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

 

The funeral will be Saturday, June 15 at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Frederick-Dean Funeral Home is located at 1801 Frederick Road, Opelika, Alabama. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

 

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Bill Bryan of The Bridge Church officiating. The graveside service will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Cusseta, Alabama.

 

Nora Lee Jones was born in Cusseta, Alabama on February 24, 1922.  Her father was Noah Jones and her mother was Pauline Jones.  Nora Lee worked at West Point-Pepperell Mill in Opelika, Alabama for over 45 years.  She attended Opelika First Assembly of God for over 40 years.

 

Nora Lee Jones was preceded in death by her father Noah Jones and her mother Pauline Jones; sisters Zola Jones and Sarah Gray; brothers William Jones and Joe Jones; niece Patricia Harris (Claude); great niece Karen Hendricks.

 

Nora Lee Jones is survived by her nieces Sandra Hendricks (Charles), Linda Milsap and Teresa (Charlie); nephew Joseph Jones (Paula); great nephews Dean Odle (Nancy), Alan Odle (Marsha) and Todd Hendricks; great nieces Shannon Hill (Gene) and Jennifer Carmen (Theron); great-great nephews Austin Williams and Ben Odle; great-great nieces Alexis Williams, Kaylin Wilson, Caitlin Odle, Bethany Odle, Faith Odle, Abby Odle and Caroline Carmen; great-great-great nephew Grayson Haynes; great-great-great niece Rose Williams

 

We give a special thanks to Dr. Commander and his nurse Diane for outstanding medical care for Nora Lee through the years.

 

Pallbearers will be Austin Williams, Steven Haynes, Gene Hill, Michael Pitts, Alan Odle and Ben Odle.
