Borden M. "Denny" Romine Jr., 66

May 7, 1944 - April 25, 2011

Borden M. “Denny” Romine, Jr.

1944 – 2011

Borden M. “Denny” Romine, Jr. 66, born May 7, 1944, died April 25, 2011 at Bethany House in Auburn.  Born in Marshalltown, Iowa.  Proceeded in death by his parents, Borden M. Romine and Ruth E Kopsa Romine Tidmore.

Denny graduated from Fort Payne High School, class of ’62, where he met his wife, K. Janie Gilbreath Romine.  They were married for almost 46 years and have two children. Daughter, Stephanie Anne Romine Simmons Maynard, and three grandchildren; Kevin David Simmons, Morgan Kathryn Maynard, and Aaron Chapman Maynard.  Their son, Michael Todd Romine and wife Kimberly Renee Hall Romine.  Michael and Kim are expecting their first child June 1.

Denny was a graduate of Auburn University, class of ’67.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.  He spent his career at General Electric Aerospace Division in Cincinnati, Ohio for 35 years.  Denny worked on a number of advanced technology programs in his career at General Electric Engines in Evendale, Ohio.  Early, this included programs such as the engines for the Supersonic Cruise Transport and the B-1 bomber.  Later, Denny was involved in the development of the Alternate Engine for the new Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).  He was a contributing member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

Denny served as Treasurer of the Bridge Point Condominium Association for six years in Punta Gorda, Florida.  He and Janie own a condo there where they had many fun times and made some very good friends.

Denny was a devout Auburn fan from his very early years living in Auburn while his Dad attended API class of ’46.  After retiring in 2003 Denny and Janie moved to Auburn to enjoy the Auburn spirit and family again.  While living in Auburn, Denny found his dream job of working in the Auburn University Athletic ticket office. Our undefeated season for 2010 was so exciting.  I am thankful Denny was able to enjoy it.

Denny is survived by his wife Janie, their children Stephanie and  Michael and  wife Kimberly, brother Steve Romine, two nieces Ashley and Allison Romine, a half sister, Mary Lisa Romine Dill, two nephews Alec and Ryan Dill,   three grandchildren many cousins and friends.  Denny will be missed by all.
