Mr. Calvin Kelly Cook died peacefully in Jackson Hospital of Montgomery, AL on Saturday, the 30th of January, at the age of 88. The son of Lester and Daisy Cook, Calvin was born on February 20th, 1927 in Auburn, AL. He graduated in the class of 1945 from Auburn High School. On September 12th, 1947 he married his beautiful wife, then June Garrett, and they enjoyed 53 years together and the birth of their two boys. After moving to Montgomery, Calvin began working for Capital Chevrolet where he served in various roles and gave over 50 years of service to the dealership. His most notable position was as manager of the parts department. It was in this role that Calvin received numerous sales rewards from General Motors sending he and June to do that which they both loved: see the world together. Mr. Cook is survived by his son C. Kelly Cook Jr., of Wetumpka, AL; brother Jack, of Lafayette; grandson Brian, of Huntsville; great grandchildren Evelyn, Colette, and W. Hugh. He is preceded in death by his wife June Cook, originally from Opelika; son William L., of Montgomery; and his brother Lester, of Auburn. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10:00 until the funeral hour. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Reece officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Calvin's life. Donations to the Salvation Army are encouraged in lieu of flowers to express sympathy. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10:00 until the funeral hour.
