Frances Edwards Witherspoon, 82, died Saturday, April 19, at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a loving wife and mother, who focused her life on her church, her family and serving others. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and crafts. She was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer, AL. She lived an active life and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mannie Edwards. Mrs. Witherspoon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don M. Witherspoon DVM; son, Don M Witherspoon Jr. (Beth); daughter, Donna Weitman (Spencer); grandchildren, Amanda Weiter, Colby Weitman, Carol Ann Weitman, Clayton Witherspoon, Grace Witherspoon; Great grandchildren; Brayden Weitman and Bryce Weiter. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 2:00-3:00pm at Canaan Baptist Church, 2543 Morgan Road, Bessemer, AL, 35022. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm, April 22, 2014 at Canaan Baptist Church with Pastor Bailey Morgan officiating.
