George Preston Holt, 77, of Society Hill, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at his home. Mr. Holt was born in Macon County, Alabama on January 21, 1936. He spent the last 50 plus years doing the work he enjoyed the most, farming cotton and peanuts. He was a member of Marvyn Parkway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Bailey and Eula Holt. Mr. Holt is survived by his wife, Jackie Sims Holt; son, George Holt, Jr. (Rebecca); his two daughters, Gail Wooten and Patricia Adams (Johnny); four sisters, Kathleen Long (Carlton), Myrtle Adams, Sarah Adams, and Jeanette Word, all of Opelika; seven grandchildren, Christopher Moore (Rebekah), Dawn Dean (Wade), B.J. Toler, Haley and Ryan Dillon, Shanna and Quincy Adams; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Nation and Faye Ramsey (James). Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at the Holt Family Cemetery on Society Hill Road. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 9:30-10:45 AM in the parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
