Gladys E. Mayfield, of Opelika, was born on July 2, 1929 and passed away on December 7, 2015 at her home in Opelika. She was 86 years old. Nanny will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her sweet spirit was seen in the way she continuously helped those in need. Precious memories reminded us of her mouth-watering biscuits and chocolate pie, singing with the voice of an angel, dancing the buck dance, and telling funny jokes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Mayfield son, Charlie Mayfield and son-in-law Don Harris. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Phillips (James), Sara Harris, and Marcus Mayfield (Nancy); grandchildren, Ann Marie, Brian, Beth, Marc, Mende, Ashley, and Adam; 15 great-grandchildren; great niece and caregiver, Angie Denton. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 10, 2015 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor, Aaron Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
