Glen Edward Stokes of Auburn, formerly of Crystal River, Florida was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 8, 1922 to the late Arthur Edward and Ruth Johnson Stokes and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 14, 2018. He was 96 years old.
Mr. Stokes proudly served in the United States Army during WW II. He served in the 86th Blackhawk division, in both the European and Pacific Arenas of WW II, finishing as a Master Sergeant. He was also a survivor of the Great Depression, an entrepreneur at heart, he loved business and started, developed, and sold multiple businesses over a 70 year working career; Stokes Flea Market in Crystal River, Florida being his most notable. He was a loving husband, father, PaPa, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Stokes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn W. Stokes; daughter, Connie Lake (Bobby) and their children, Joshua, Emily, and Charlie Lake; son, Jim Stokes (Denise) and their daughter, Grace; son, Rick Lutz (Kim) and their children, Baylee and Preston Lutz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Memorial service will be held on August 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
