Harold Bryant, age 78 of Opelika, was born on April 12, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia and went to be with the Lord on April 22, 2014 at his residence following a long illness. He served in the Air Force for four years then retired from West Point Stevens after 47 years of service. He was a faithful member at Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years, taught Sunday School and was custodian for several years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Katie Bryant; and his brother, Edward Bryant. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ellen Bryant; son, Randy (Donna) Bryant; daughter, Vickie (Billy) Horne; son, Tim (Tom Ryder) Bryant; son, Mark Bryant; sisters, Josie Thompson and Marie (Don) Fuller; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one granddog; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Advantage, 665 Opelika Road, Suite 200, Auburn, Alabama, 36830. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
