Ida Edwina "Eddie" Reed, 73, of Auburn died Sunday, February 1 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born August 14, 1941 in Pennington Gap, Virginia to John and Frances Spencer.
Ida graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 1963, and the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1968. After 24 years at Auburn University in the Education, Entomology and Textile Engineering Departments, she retired as a Senior Research Associate.
Survived by her loving husband of 29 years Alan Reed, daughter Teresa Jayroe (Alan) of Dothan, AL, son John Daniels (Laura) of Starkville, MS, brother Neel Spencer (Geraldine) of Kingman, AZ, four grandchildren, two nephews, two nieces, and many other family members and friends.
Her greatest joy came from helping others, including two years in the Peace Corps in Venezuela. She gave of herself sacrificially to anyone in need. Ida was a person of sincere faith. She lived a very active life: gardening, skiing, hiking, running, and square dancing with the Village Squares. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
