James "Skeet" Sasser, 75, was born February 25, 1941 in Albany, Georgia and passed away November 7, 2016 at Bethany House in Auburn.
He owned Sasser Insurance Agency, located on Geneva Street in Opelika, where he worked for 35 years. He was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Auburn.
Mr. Sasser was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. and Grace Sasser; his brother Tommy Sasser; and step grandson, Taylor Zito. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah L. Sasser; two sons, Todd Sasser of Opelika and Chris Sasser of Phenix City; six grandchildren; and one brother, Hook Sasser of Pensacola, Florida.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Auburn with internment following at Garden Hills Cemetery. Rev. Msgr. William J. Skoneki will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or East Alabama Food Bank.
