Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Simmons of Wetumpka, Alabama was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 1, 1941 and passed away in Montgomery, Alabama on July 5, 2017. He was 75 years old. Mr. Simmons proudly served 6 years in the United States Navy as a Boatswain Mate. He was a Member of the Tin Can Sailor and the VFW. He was also still a current employee of Rheem Manufacturing. Joe was a very hard working man in tool and die. He always had a great sense of humor, an amazing smile with a contagious laugh. He has a great love for his family and his dog "Buddy". Everyone who knew him knew how big of an Alabama Football Fan he was. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Conroy Simmons and brother, Tom Simmons. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Simmons; Children, Scott Simmons and wife Shawn, Doug Simmons, and Angie Yarbrough and husband Wayne; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and sister, Marilyn Nicewander. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Father Norbert Jurek officiating. Interment will follow at Town Creek Cemetery.
