Ila Marie Hinson Nixon of Auburn, Alabama was born to the late Luther and Sara Kate Allen Hinson on July 29, 1930 and passed away at Bethany House on November 15, 2017. She was 87 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thomas D. Nixon, Sr.; sisters, Dorothy Bell, of Phenix City, Alabama and Lurline Smith of Opelika, Alabama. Marie was a graduate of Beauregard High School. She worked alongside Thomas as partners in their business, Nixon Steel Company. They also had a cattle farm together. She is survived by her children, Sherrill Nixon, Thomas Donald "Don" Nixon, Jr. and his wife Carol, Alan Nixon, and Arlene Nixon Dodson all of Auburn, Alabama; two grandsons, and three great grandsons. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dru Tubbs. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church.
