Mary Dorthine Newton, was born in Sylacauga Alabama, on October 14, 1920, and passed away at EAMC on November 12, 2015. She was 95 years old. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed her Bible study. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Newton, and son, Steven Vann Newton. She is survived by her daughters, Nita Jones, and Dixie Ragland (Dickie); grandchildren, Stacey Downing (Tony), Allen Pritchard (Ashley), Brittany Winslett (Will), and Rachel Ragland; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and special friends and care givers, Beverly Boler and Shirlene Atkins. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Emmett Atkins officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, or your favorite charity of choice.
