Mavis Lucille Knowles, age 86 of Salem, was born on December 21, 1924 in Elmore County and passed away on May 20, 2011 at Arbor Springs in Opelika. She was a loving mother and was affectionately known as "Ma Ma." She was predeceased by her husband, John D. Knowles (Junior); and her son, John Wayne Knowles. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Knowles, Marla Jean Herron (Mike), Kathy Plott (Donald), and Janice Doler (Frank); ten grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
