Norman Smart of Salem, Alabama was born in Watertown, Connecticut on September 9, 1941 and passed away at his home on October 17, 2016. He was 75 years old. He was retired after 20 years of service in the Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armel and Josephine Smart. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bobbie Smart; children Carroll Gelberg (Greg), Norman Smart, Jr. all of California, Keith Guess (Stacy), and Brian Guess (Angel); six grandchildren; sisters Elaine Cote of Florida, and Fran Barnes of Arizona; brother Dennis Smart (Susan) of Connecticut, as well as numerous friends, family members, and faithful companion Emma. Family will receive friends at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. CDT.
