Thomas Randy Awbrey of Opelika, Alabama was born to the late Thomas Wilson and Katherine Greene Awbrey on December 15, 1946. On October 7, 2016 Thomas Randy Awbrey left to be with our Lord. A father, grandfather, brother, best friend to everyone, and a Soldier. His love and memories will keep him alive forever. Mr. Awbrey served his country in the Marine Corp during Vietnam. He retired from the United States Postal Service but then came out of retirement to join the staff at Lee County Achievement Center. He is preceded in death by his sister Jackie Kite and her husband David Kite. He is survived by his children Tommy Awbrey (Cari), Emily Fields (Trey), Kathi Pierce (Adam) and their mother Pam; sisters Suzanne Hovater, and Martha Carlton (Tom); nine grandchildren Hannah, Brett, Maddie, Trent, Wil, Zach, Matthew, Taylor, Wade, as well as numerous friends and family. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2016 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from Noon until 1:00 p.m.
