Vionne "Vi" James, 92, of Waverly, Alabama, was born in Hesperia, Michigan on September 20, 1923 and passed away at Arbor Springs on June 9, 2016.
She attended Farmville Baptist Church. She volunteered at EAMC, serving proudly as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxillary for 30 years. She was an Army Nurse stationed at the German Prisoners Camp in Tyler, Texas, and proud of the fact that she was a United States Army Veteran until the day she died. She had a servants heart and continued to serve others as long as she was able. She enjoyed golf, sewing, and traveling with her family.
Daughter to the late Charles and Eileen Norris DeLong, predeceased by her husband of 60 years Dr. Edmund Hulin James, Jr. son, Randolph K James, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by children, Kathy Buskirk (Roger), Ned James (Marlene), Stanley James, and Mike James; grandchildren, Deanna Taylor (Chris), Bo Buskirk (Leeann), Marshall James, Zachary James (Janelle), David James, Erikah James, and Randall James; great grandchildren, Kraig Taylor, BJ Taylor, JoAnna Taylor, Will Taylor, Cora Kate Taylor, Trey Pratt, Gage Pratt and Charlee Buskirk; great-great grandsons, Charles "Redd" Taylor and Krayson Taylor; sisters, Mick Annis, Marj DeLong and Shirley Maat, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. CDT.
Graveside will be at Loachapoka Community Cemetery Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. CDT with Reverend Gerald Sykes officiating.
Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. CDT.
