Obituary

Bill Glasscock, age 62 of Auburn, passed away on May 18, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on November 15, 1948, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Dalton, Georgia. He graduated in 1966 as a 1st Lieutenant from The Baylor School located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Upon graduating from Baylor, he attended Auburn University, where he graduated with a degree in Journalism. His love of the university and the community kept him in Auburn, and he chose to raise his family here. He is preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Martha Rose Glasscock of Dalton, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Tina Glasscock, and his niece, Gracie Glasscock, both of Auburn. He is survived by his two children: Jeff (Lisa) Glasscock of Auburn and Robin (Robert) Rudder of Montgomery; mother of his children, Sandy Glasscock of Auburn; one brother, Greg (Melinda) Glasscock of Auburn; three grandchildren, Caroline Newsome, Keller and Pearson Glasscock of Auburn; four nieces and nephews, Olivia, Emily, Will, Riley all of Auburn. Bill was a talented carpenter and the pride he took in his work can be seen in many homes around Auburn. He was a devoted father and grandfather and admired by colleagues, friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Center of East Alabama through the EAMC Foundation. Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 26, at 3 p.m., at Auburn United Methodist Church, with visitation immediately following in Hamill Court. Dr. George Mathison will officate.
