William R. Mouncastle, III (Randy) died Saturday, February 6th of complications from cerebella ataxia. He would have been 50 on his birthday in April. Randy was an engineer and enjoyed his job and his fellow employees with the State Transportation Department. He retired from his job at the state asphalt testing lab in 2014. Randy loved to read and was an avid science fiction fan. Randy was an Eagle Scout, an Auburn University Civil Engineering graduate, and a graduate of Jones Law School. He was a founding member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, where he participated in the choir. Randy played Rugby for the Montgomery Yellowhammer Rugby Team and the Auburn University Rugby Club. He also played tuba for the Montgomery Capital Sound Concert Band. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William R. Mountcastle, Jr., and his mother Mary Ruth Mountcastle. He is survived by his sister Ann Mountcastle and her husband Ben Coker of Montgomery; and his nephew, Henry Coker. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Annie Ruth Epps and Catha Lillie, who enabled him to remain in his home the last two years of his life. The family would also like to thank the employees of the Auburn Public Library and Rehab Works. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. Visitation will be held in the parlor of Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
