Alma Cantrell, 90 of Opelika, was born on June 11, 1922 in Georgia and passed away at the Bethany House on January 29, 2013. She resided at Lafayette Extended Care for the last 3 years and was a Baptist in faith. Mrs. Cantrell enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in her flower garden. Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her son, Marvin Dean; her granddaughter, Dawn Moody; and her grandson, Mike Dillbeck. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Ray) Moody, Sandra (Mitch) Jackson of Samson, and Debra (Mike) Walker; grandchildren, Felicia (James) Eicher, Daniel Smith of Hartford, Terri (Daniel) Reeves of Hartford, Haylee Walker, and Kelsey Walker; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in law Bessie Howard; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caregivers over the past 3 years and to Lafayette Extended Care Nursing Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Febuary 1, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. in Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment to follow at Garden Hills cemetery.
