Anthony "Tony" Travis Whatley, age 67 of Opelika, was born in Lee County, Alabama on November 17, 1944 and died at his home under the care of hospice on March 29, 2012. He was born to the late Travis Moore Whatley and Kathleen Maude Schubert Whatley.
Mr. Whatley was an amateur musician, writer of poetry and avid reader. He was a devoted husband and father, and will be remembered with great affection and love.
Mr. Whatley was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Edward Whatley. He is survived by his wife Cathryn J. Whatley; son, Christopher Anthony Whatley; brother, Rex Alan Whatley of Opelika; sisters, Carry Ross of Bradenton, Florida, Sandra Whatley of Venice, Florida, Sharon Bowling of Auburn, Alabama, and Amy Lybrand of Cragford, Alabama; nephews, Creg Ross of Holmes Beach, Florida, Travis Whatley of Auburn, Alabama, and Eric Whatley of Jacksonville, Alabama; nieces, Tracy Rafaniello of Venice, Florida, Dusty Harris of Auburn, Alabama, Jessica Lybrand of Jacksonville, Alabama, and Kayla Whatley of Opelika; and good friend and first cousin, Dan Whatley.
