Barbara Ann Krietemeyer, 85, of Mobile, Alabama, peacefully passed away on October 28, 2023. She was born on July 29, 1938, in Orange, New Jersey, to the late Helen Milliken and Frank Karcher. Her mother Grace, her father Frank, and her brother Richard preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving family, including her husband of 63 years, George, and children Jeff, Bob, Rick, and Kim, each of whom she loved with all her heart. Her six grandchildren – Chad, Brittany, Ericksen, Colver, Kyle, and Danielle--truly were her pride and joy.
Barbara was a woman of deep faith, unwavering strength, and boundless love. Throughout her life, she exemplified the values of compassion, kindness, and selflessness that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She cultivated friendships everywhere she went. Restaurant servers, grocery store clerks, home health care workers, and hairdressers all became Barbara's friends due to her genuine warmth and openness.
Barbara's educational journey began in Verona, New Jersey, where she attended the Verona Primary School and Verona High School. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at LaSalle Junior College in Boston, where she nurtured her passion for learning. Barbara was a dedicated Coast Guard wife who loved working with others to support its mission and to nurture other families. After living in Florida, Maryland, Indiana, and North Carolina, the family settled in Alabama, where Barbara became and remained an avid fan of the University of Alabama football.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 30, 2023, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, remember, and honor the remarkable life of Barbara Ann Krietemeyer. In recognition of Barbara's compassionate nature and her desire to make a difference in the lives of others, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Barbara Ann Krietemeyer will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who were touched by her grace. Her legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and guide us. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the Divine.
