Baxter Giles Garner

Baxter Giles Garner of Auburn, Alabama was born in Opelika, Alabama on July 17, 1941 to the late William Garner and Ruby Giles, and passed away on May 9, 2026. He was 84 years old.

He lived most of his life in Notasulga, Alabama where he was the owner of Citizens Hardware & Building Supply. Baxter married the love of his life, Mildred Daniel of Opelika in 1961 and together they raised their family for 60 years. He was a patriotic American serving his nation in the US Army during the Cold War.

He was preceded in death by his siblings and his wife. He is survived by his sons, Barry (Shannon), Darren (Christy); grandchildren, Will (Ally), Chris (Kayla), Clay (Kay), Jones Garner, Megan and Ryan Birchfield.

Baxter is also survived by his constant companion and loving dog, Maggie.

Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

A graveside service will be at Notasulga Memory Gardens in Notasulga, AL on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:00am.
