Betty J. Rushin McCormick, 77, was born on December 5, 1937 to the late O.T. and Georgie Lee Rushin, and passed away on December 11, 2014. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, going to church, cooking, collecting cookbooks, going to flea markets, thrift stores, and watching old movies. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Marvin E. McCormick, and her sister, Maggie Joyce Cheek. She is survived by her children, Brenda J. McCormick McCall (Richard), Carolyn McCormick Smith (Sammy), Michial E. McCormick (Robin), Linda McCormick Petty (James), and Tonya Davis; grandchildren, Brian McCall, Donna Mims, Samantha Ford (Zach), Caley Guy (Chris), Rachel McCormick, Nellie Ruff, and Caleb Petty (Kate); great-grandchildren, Melony McCall, Sean Mims, Lee McCall, Logan Mims, AdaRee Petty, and Jonathan Guy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home with Brother Robert Spratlin officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour.
