Obituary

Betty Ray, age 86 of Opelika, passed away on October 3, 2016 at Oak Park. She retired from Ampex after 25 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harvey Leonard Ingram and her second husband Oliver Lamar Ray, and brother William Mooney. She is survived by her brother Preston Mooney of Opelika, Alabama; children Jane Ingram Jones (Roy) of Austell, Georgia, and Lane Ingram Messer (Norman) of Opelika, Alabama; grandchildren Wesley Jones of Canton, Georgia, Tracy Jones of Albany, Georgia, Penny Messer of Opelika, Alabama, and Kevin Messer of Opelika, Alabama; great grandchildren Tyler Jones (Brittney) of Canton, Georgia, Desiree Messer of Opelika, Alabama, Willow Messer of Opelika, Alabama, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to thank the people at Oak Park for the great care and friendship they provided Betty during her time with them. Betty loved them as much as we know they loved her. Praise the Lord! Now she remembers. Next time we meet she will know all of our faces and names. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on October 5, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. CDT. Graveside service will be held October 5, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett, Alabama at 11:45 a.m. CDT with Reverend Cliff Knight officiating. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to any of these, Alzheimers Foundation www.alzfdn.org; Oak Park Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1365 Gatewood Drive Auburn, Alabama 36830; the Lane Messer Summer Practicum Scholarship Fund, Auburn University Foundation, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, 602 Duncan Drive Auburn, Alabama 36849-5418; or to the Charity of your choice. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on October 5, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. CDT.
