William "Bill" Richard Krietemeyer, 84, of Auburn, Alabama died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Bethany House. He was born on February 12, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Ervin and Irene Krietemeyer. Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville and a MBA from Auburn University. He spent most of his career as a quality engineer, retiring from Ampex Corporation. He also served as a Captain in the Indiana Air National Guard. His unit was called to active duty to serve in France during the Berlin Wall Crisis in 1961. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Krietemeyer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Lehmann Krietemeyer; son, Steve (Beth) Krietemeyer of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Amy Krietemeyer of Auburn; brother, Bud Krietemeyer of Elgin, Arizona; sister, Barbara King of Evansville, Indiana and two grandchildren, Cole and Claire, both of Columbia, South Carolina. Bill had a lifelong passion for golf and woodworking. He was known for mastering many handicrafts over the years, including macram, crochet, golf club repair and woodworking projects such as scroll saw and intarsia. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, July 17 at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sarah Goolsby officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Compassus and Bethany House for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
