Obituary

Billy F. Holley, 79, was born on November 13, 1935 and passed away on January 17, 2015 at his home. He was the son to the late Samuel and Lois Holley. Mr. Holley was retired from National Linen Service and Opelika Parks and Recreation. He was best known for his kindness and generosity as the "wood man." He was also an avid Alabama fan, and loved making others laugh by doing his Jerry Clower imitation. We know that when he entered heaven that he was praising God and yelling "Roll Tide!" He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Holley was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Holley; his son, David Holley; and his sister, Gloria Long. He is survived by his daughters, Belinda Kathy Berry, Karen Graham (James), and Donna Bledsoe (Hal); his grandchildren, Brenda Thrift, Kristie Hamm, Jonathan Thrift (Lori), Melissa Frederic (Jason), Mary Daniel (Kevin), Nicholas Bledsoe (Beth), and Josh Bledsoe (Kim); 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hamby; sister-in-law, Shirley McBurney; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members; a very special companion, Carolyn Owens; as well as many close friends. A celebration of the life and home-going of Mr. Billy F. Holley will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church West Campus, with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 3:00-5:00 pm in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
