Obituary

Brenda (Clark) Cannon 1944-2021 Brenda (Clark) Cannon was born May 20, 1944 in Graceville, Florida and passed away in Hoover, Alabama April 27, 2021. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Clark and Desma (Bean) Anthony. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert D. Cannon, Sr., one son, Robert D. Cannon, Jr. (Suzy), and one daughter, Angela (Cannon) Horne (Judson); 3 grandchildren, Morgan (Fucci) Collins (Forrest), Jessica (Cannon) Schmidt (Christopher), Alex Cannon; and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; her brother Tim M. Clark (Brenda), and 2 sisters, Lynda Clark Sasser and Judy Clark Myers. Brenda was a member of the Perry Garden Club of Auburn. She was honored with a lifetime membership to the Garden Club of Alabama and was also a member of the Auburn-Opelika Emblem Club, providing auxiliary services to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. She was also on the committee to establish the annual Lee County water festival for hands on water conservation and education for all 4th graders in Lee County. She was a founder of the Blue Stockings Review at Beauregard High School, whose proceeds helped fund the marching bands uniforms. Giving back to the community and helping others was always a passion for Brenda. Brenda was a caring, generous person to everyone she met. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to many. Her personality was so loving and caring that she never met a stranger. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Parlor at Fredrick-Dean Funeral Home Opelika, AL with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. Graveside will be at Garden Hills Cemetery immediately after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation in Brenda's name to the Alzheimer's Association (Alabama Chapter) www.alz.org. or a charity of your choice.
