Brian Thomas Wheat
1958-2022
was suddenly taken from us 16 days prior to his 64th birthday on May 5, 2022 at his home in Auburn, AL, and at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL, leaving his wife and constant companion of 14+ years, Johanna Larsen Wheat.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Tolbert Wheat (87), and father, Thomas Edwin Wheat (93).
Brian is survived by wife Johanna Larsen Wheat (Auburn, AL); sister, Sharon LaRue Carey (Stafford, TX); brother, Bruce Edwin Wheat (Hoover, AL) (Glauce), and nephew Michael Ryan Carey (Stafford, TX); two grand nieces, as well as mischievous cat, Thor.
Brian was born an Air Force Brat on Ramey Air Force Base, Puerto Rico, grew up in Waco, TX and Hoover, AL. Brian graduated from RLC High School in 1975 and Auburn University in 1979 with a BS in Sociology, later working most of his career at Siemens Financial in the Atlanta, GA area as a credit analyst, where he met and later married the love of his life, Johanna, later retiring in 2017, and moved from Tucker, GA to their home in Auburn, AL. Brian and Jo shared a great love for hockey, Houston Astros baseball, Auburn sports of all kinds, craft beer, traveling to many small music venues to see the singer/songwriters of Americana music, and IndyCar/Formula-1/sports car racing where they anchored a yearly spot on the Turn 2 hillside at the Barber Motorsports Grand Prix of Alabama with brother Bruce.
Johanna wants to sincerely thank the Auburn EMS and Auburn Police who responded so quickly, and the the ER staff at EAMC in Opelika.
A family Memorial trip will be scheduled at a later date to honor Brian's life.
