Buford Lamar Morgan

1933-2023

Buford Lamar Morgan, 89, of Opelika, AL, passed away on March 4, 2023. He was in hospice care for dementia.

Buford(Buddy) was born on March 19, 1933, to Jasper Earl and Mary Jim Morgan, in Lanett, AL. After graduating from Central High School, he spent four years in the US navy, and then attended Auburn University. He married Mary Faye Stephens, and they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2023.

After college, Buddy worked in production, marketing, and sales for 65 years at various companies in Opelika. Work was one of his life's passions and he often said, "Any job worth doing is worth doing right!" He retired in his mid 80's.

Buddy and Faye would go on to have four children, Richard, Bonnie, Barry and Emily. Buddy was a devoted provider to his family, and husband to Faye. When Buddy wasn't working, he could be found fishing, coin collecting, playing dominoes, or watching Auburn football. He enjoyed working with his hands, and was often at Lake Martin on weekends, building cabins with friends and family.

Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter; Bonnie Sherrer, sister; Margie Latimer and brother; Bobby Morgan.

Buddy is survived by his wife Faye, children; Richard Morgan of Savannah, GA; Emily Morgan of Alexander City, AL; and Barry Morgan of Dallas, GA; sister, Peggy Siggers, grandchildren; Bert Tucker, Chris Tucker, Reid Morgan, Madelyn Morgan and great-grandchildren; Kaylei Tucker and Wilder Morgan.

The family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association. There will be a graveside service on March 18, 2023 at 1:00 CST, at Garden Hills Cemetery Opelika, AL.
