Andrew Calvin (Cal) Whatley was born on March 13, 1968 in Lee County, Alabama to the late Annice and Leary Whatley and passed away at his home on January 15, 2019. He is survived by his daughter, Hayden Whatley, his sisters Lisa Brown-Hearon and Lerae Rainer (Rick), his brother Allen Woodall (Sherry), nephews Connor, Callen, and Carsen Brown, niece Carrie Caldwell (Ben), cousin Rodney Walker- devoted caregiver, and a multitude of friends. Cal graduated from Beauregard High School in 1986. His life-long dream was to be a cowboy. This dream was realized as he spent most of his adult life cowboying for a living. For the past 13 years, Cal served as ranch manager for the DCJ ranch in Auburn, AL. Cal was known as a man you could count on, as he was always there with a helping hand for any friend in need. As Cal often said, "a cowboy measures wealth by good friends, and in that case, I will die a millionaire". The greatest honor that Cal ever had was being a father to Hayden. He found great joy in sharing his knowledge of hunting, fishing, cooking, and the cowboy lifestyle that he loved so much. His family and friends would like to thank Dr. Amanda Reimer and her staff, Barbara Williams, Shannon McConnell, as well as the Kindred Hospice staff for their compassionate care of Cal. In celebration of Cals life, a memorial service will be held at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Saturday January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.CST. In lieu of flowers, his friends and family ask for donations to be made to the Cal Whatley Memorial Fund at River Bank and Trust or to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter.
