Carlos Golden, 83, was born to the late Zack and Annie Golden in Jackson County, Florida on February 28, 1931. He passed forward on September 10, 2014 in Americus, Georgia.
Mr. Golden was a long time resident of Opelika and a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church. He served Providence Baptist Church in many capacities, including Associate Pastor, Music Director, and Deacon. Mr. Golden served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant.
Mr. Golden was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Wiseman Golden, and his son, Michael Golden.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Jackson Golden; daughter, Peggy Leigh Golden Reeves (Tom); sons, Dean Wiseman Golden (Paige), Jerry Golden (Glenda), and Rev. Steven Golden (Patricia); daughter-in-law, Vivian Bowen; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Eunice Smith (Allen); and his brother, Elwood Golden (Shelby)
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Providence Baptist Church, West Campus, Opelika, Alabama at 3:00 pm CST, with Dr. Rusty Sowell, Dr. Thomas R. Smith, and Dr. Gary Dennis officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 13, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm CST in the parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted, or the family would prefer that donations be made to the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.
