Charles Earl Ledbetter

1935 – 2022

Charles Earl Ledbetter went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2022. He passed peacefully at his home in Beauregard.

Earl was born on May 6, 1935 in Opelika, Alabama. He graduated from Beauregard High School. He then attended Victoria College in Victoria, Texas on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas where he received his degree in accounting.

Earl was employed by Uniroyal Goodrich for 35 years in the Engineering Department. He retired in 1995.

Earl and Karen led a full life in Beauregard, Alabama raising two sons, working and running a farm. Earl enjoyed working with and rebuilding tractors. They relocated to St. Joe Beach, Florida in 2000 where they were active in their church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and life!

Earl is proceeded in death by his wife, Karen, of 59 years, and his brothers, Lester Elwood Ledbetter and James Lewis Ledbetter.

Earl is survived by his sister, Barbara Menago of Pennsylvania, Shirley Baker of Auburn; his sons, Carleton (Kerry) and Steven; grandsons, Jackson, Walker and Will of Opelika; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church, East Campus, in Opelika, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Frederick-Dean Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
