Obituary

Corinne Marie Martine Noguès Gay Watson

Was born in beautiful Paris France on September 17, 1938. Corinne was preceded in death by her parents Roger Bertin Noguès and Lucille Leona Adele Genet. She is survived by her sister Manuela Marie Margaret Noguès Desaubliaux, her Son Dr. Cyril Gerard Gay and his wife Corinne Rheillac Gay and their children Alexia and Brad Snyder, Morgane and Jason George, Nicolas and Christine Gay and her great grand children Hudson, Tristan, Luca, Braeden, Savannah, and Madeleine. She is also survived by her Daughter Valerie Lucie Gay Bufford and her husband Dr. Franklin Keith Bufford and their children, Kelly Marie Bufford, Kevin Wade Renaud Bufford and his fiancée Valerie Odet Castrillon.

Raised by a veteran of World War One, she was also profoundly marked by World War Two, often telling stories of her experiences first encountering the occupying German soldiers and later on American and other Allied soldiers during the liberation. As she came into adulthood, she married Gerard William Gay in 1956, and he was immediately sent to fight in the French-Algerian War. Fortunately, her husband returned to her, and they were able to raise a family together. Widowed young at 56, she later married David O. Watson who was a former United States Marine and later Chief of Police. She was so proud of all the men and soldiers in her life who had fought for the Freedom of their country.

Growing up in a family that knew War from before she was born, throughout her childhood and even as she came into adulthood, she developed a deep appreciation for history, an impulse to seize the day, and a profound faith in God that sustained her through all of life's challenges. With a confidence founded on her piety, a deep sense of adventure, and more than a little innate "joie de vivre" Corinne in her 30's decided to explore the United States as a new home for her young family with Gerard. Though her family in her passing, remains separated by the ocean, it is forever connected by the enduring bridge that was her loving legacy.

A Memorial service will be held at St Michael the Archangel church in Auburn on October 27, 2022 at 3 p.m. Father Plessala will be officiating. In lieu of flowers please call the Parish and request for a Mass to be held for her.
