Daniel Herring Donnelly was born on October 21, 1953 and passed away on May 9, 2011 at the Presbyterian Dallas Hospital. Dan bravely fought bone cancer for nearly two years with the assistance of his caretaker, Debra Simmons and his friend, Nick Vogas. He was a resident of Dallas, although he had lived most of his life in Auburn. He was the son of Dr. E.D. Donnelly (deceased) and Bea Donnelly. His loving mother, Bea, lives in Auburn. Dan's twin brother, Brad Donnelly and his children, Jacob and Levi, live in Auburn. His sister, Jan and her husband Mike Hakami, live in Plano, Texas. Dan was a devoted father of his two children, Trenton and Lindsey (Mrs. Keith Haines). Dan graduated from Auburn High School and from Auburn University. He served the City of Auburn as a policeman and detective and served as a U.S. Marshal in Houston, Texas. He later became a mortgage banker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church of your choice. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
