Dewey Levi Simmons 1949 – 2021 Dewey Levi Simmons, 72, was born on May 9, 1949 and passed away on July 28, 2021 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Mr. Simmons worked for Uniroyal for 25 years and then continued his career as a driver with Thompson Carriers for another 25 years. Mr. Simmons was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and Pawpaw. He lived by family, friends, fishing, and football. Lake Martin was his home away from home and he was the biggest Alabama fan this side of the Mississippi River. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his closest canine companions, Dinky and Sushi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Simmons and Myrtle Cannon Simmons. Mr. Simmons is survived by his daughter, Billie Sue Scurnopoli, and his sister Cathy Simmons. He was blessed with three grandchildren Braden Dubose (Elizabeth), Caitlin Mathes (Kody), and Ashton Scurnopoli. He had three great-grandchildren as well; Declan Levi Dubose, Heidi Kate Mathes and Jett Mathes. He also leaves behind a nephew, Billy Hall and two nieces, Leslie Cooper and Lisa Forte. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel.
