Doris R. Jenkins of Auburn, Alabama was born in Troutville, Virginia on January 28, 1935 and passed away at her home on July 19, 2017. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Jenkins was a Member at First Presbyterian Church of Auburn where she was involved with the Presbyterian Women Organization.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grammy. She was a Registered Nurse for 35 years. Doris was an avid golfer and bridge player in her younger years. She began the Parish Nurse Program with Shirley Helmke at First Presbyterian of Auburn in 1992, which paved the way for many to be helped with their needs. The family would especially like to thank Richie Rainer and Stephanie Hutchinson for the loving care of our mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Jenkins; and brother, Cecil "Ryland" Rucker.
She is survived by her daughter, Trena M. Hargreaves (Robert) of Atlanta, Georgia; son, Richard Crews Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Hannah E. Hargreaves, Caroline L. Hargreaves, and Mary Katherine Hargreaves, all of Atlanta.
Memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Auburn on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverends Kathryn and Nicholas Reed officiating. A reception will follow at the Church in Conway Hall. A private family graveside will be held at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery.
