Obituary

Dorothy Everlyn Knapp (Patterson) 1929-2021 Dorothy Everlyn Knapp (Patterson) was born to James and Dovie Patterson in Waverly, Alabama on November 10, 1929. At age 91 on August 02, 2021, she was freed from her years long battle with dementia and went home to meet her maker, her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by family and holding the hand of her beloved husband of 72 years, Levi, as she peacefully passed. Dot, as many fondly called her, spent most of her life in the Auburn/Opelika area. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1947 and married Levi Alvin Knapp Jr. in April of 1949. She was in the banking business and worked many years at Auburn National Bank and for the City of Auburn. Dot loved to be outside and could often be found working in her yard, enjoying the sunshine, or spending time with her family at Lake Martin. She loved animals and had many pets like dogs, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and cats. Dot loved the Lord and her church family at Trinity United Methodist Church. She also loved to square dance and volunteered at East Alabama Medical Center for several years. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her husband, Levi, children; Brenda (Ray) Havron of Spanish Fort, Sharon (Richard) Morgan of Alexander City and Lee (Susan) Knapp of Port Orange, Florida. Grandchildren; Jennifer (Jordan) Parker, Andrew (Jarah) Knapp, Jeffrey (Megan) Knapp, Chandler Stapleton, and Erin Morgan. Dorothy will be laid to rest in a private, graveside service with family at Memorial Park Cemetery in Auburn. There will be a Celebration of Life service at Trinity United Methodist Church (800 2nd Ave, Opelika) on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 1pm with visitation immediately following in the fellowship hall. Pastor Earl Ballard will officiate both services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to Hospice Compassus (665 Opelika Rd Suite 200, Auburn, AL 36830) or to Trinity United Methodist Church in Opelika.
