Doyt Leon Alford, 80, was born on April 14, 1933 in Clay County, Alabama and grew up in the Mountain Community. He passed away on April 8, 2014 at Russell Medical Center.
Mr. Alford was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, worked for 39 years at Russell Corporation, and was a member of the Owls Club. He also played basketball, enjoyed sports, especially following his children and grandchildren as they played.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Edna Sprayberry Alford; grandson, Will Lankford; and brother Geraldine "Gerry" Alford.
Mr. Alford is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce McCain Alford; daughters, Kathy Dean (Joe) and Kay Mahan(George) ; sons, Steve Alford (Cindy), Jeffrey Alford (Rhonda), and Jerry Alford (Robbie); grandchildren, Lauren Alford, Jacob Mahan, Matthew Alford, Neal Alford, Connor Alford, Grady Alford, Joseph Dean III (Kim), and Jessica Dean; great-grandchildren, Paxton Dean, Joseph Dean IV, and Grady Dean; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Hillview Memorial Park with Reverends Wayne Cowhick and Bruce McClendon officiating.
