Ellen Pate, was born in Auburn, Alabama on March 3, 1927, and passed away at Bethany House on August 31, 2015 at the age of 88. She was totally devoted to her beloved family and friends. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Gertrude Belcher in 1965, and her husband Jack Brantley, Sr. in 1969. Sisters and brothers, Floy Dyer of Louisiana, Doris Robinson of Opelika, Alabama, Bernice Ferguson of Decatur, Alabama, Wilson Belcher of Opelika, Alabama, Will (Bill) Belcher of West Palm Beach, Florida, Milton Leo Belcher of Auburn, Alabama, and Gordon Belcher of Opelika, Alabama. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, George Pate and her five children, Mary (Tony) Eder, Jack (Nancy) Brantley, Betty (Sam) Pierce, Richard (Jeanne) Brantley, and Lisa (David) Tomlinson, and her sister Florence Henderson of Manassas, Virginia. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Norman Berdeaux. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to everyone at Bethany House, and also to Dr. Kevin Jackson and his staff. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. CDT. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. CDT with Reverend Libba Stinson, (Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church) officiating. Interment will follow at Auburn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. CDT.
