Eugenia D. Talmage
1929-2022
Eugenia D. Talmage, 92, of Auburn, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. "Jean" was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 6, 1929 to the late Harold J. Ducote and Leola Coco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Talmage and grandson, Ryan Stich.
She is survived by her sister, Joan Ducote Rathe, her six children, Sharon Stich (Greg), Robert Talmage Jr., Gretchen Allen (Bill), Rachel Chappell, Rebecca Taylor (Lee), and John Talmage (Kim), 20 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
While attending Dominican College in Louisiana, Jean reunited with her seventh grade sweetheart, Robert Talmage, and their 59 years of marriage began soon thereafter. She and "Bob" loved to square dance, sing, play bridge, tennis, and take their family on adventurous vacations.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Alabama for 33 years where she served as elder and moderator for the Women of the Church.
Jean spent her life in devotion and service to all those that crossed her path. She used her gift of hospitality to host students from Auburn University, church functions, foreign exchange students, newcomers to the area, and family gatherings. She delivered homecooked meals to anyone in need, and there was always a bed or a place at the dinner table for unexpected guests.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Auburn on Monday, May 9, at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to First Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Community Ministries), Auburn, Alabama, Big-House Foundation in Opelika, Alabama, or any charity of your choice.
