Evelyn Mae Cole, age 96 of Opelika, was born on December 29, 1914 in Jefferson County, Alabama and passed away at her home on May 6, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Frank Cole. Mrs. Cole is survived by her daughter, Bernice Elizabeth Adcox, of Beulah, Alabama; son-in-law, James Phillip Adcox, Sr.; sister, Sarah Walls, of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Jerry (Lorene Langley) Sanders, of Beulah, Barry (Wanda Kelly) Sanders, of Opelika, Terry (Amiee Clem) Sanders, of Bay Minette, Alabama, Donna Adcox Dosier, Phyllis Adcox (Jody) Barfield, Sherry Adcox Stephens, James Phillip Adcox, Jr., and Amy Adcox Robinson; scores of beloved great and great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces; and devoted care giver, Sandra Adcox. She was affectionately known to her close family and friends simply as "Da." Her tenacious appetite for life and her thoughtful caring and giving will leave a hole in the hearts of many. Da never failed to give when it was in her power to do so. Whatever she cared for, she cared for passionately. With Da, there was no middle ground. Mrs. Cole was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her eternal soul rests in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.
