Evelyn Turner Lowery- Funeral service for Mrs. Evelyn Lowery, 81, of Opelika is 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Rusty Sowell is officiating. Burial will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home. Mrs. Lowery, who was born May 27, 1932, in Birmingham, Ala., passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2013, at Arbor Springs in Opelika surrounded by her family. She retired from Uniroyal after 20 years and went on to Falk Corporation where she retired after 10 years of service. For many years, she enjoyed spending time with her family at her place at Lake Martin. She loved flowers, books and music. She had a sweet-tooth and a soft spot for those less fortunate. Her hand-made quilts could have hung in a museum. She had impeccable taste, an amazing memory, an intuitive nature and a sense of gratefulness. She loved her family more than anything. We will miss you so. She was preceded in death by her mother, Malora Vines Parks; her father, T.A. Turner; her beloved son, Jeff Lowery, 58, of Opelika; and her granddaughter Colleen Prickett, 35, of Opelika. She is survived by her husband, Thomas G. Lowery, married 64 years; her son, Tommy (Sandra) Lowery; her daughter, Kathy (Billy) Kidd; her daughter, Melinda (Terry) Knowles; her daughter-in-law, Jennie Lowery; grandson, Jim (BJ) Lowery; grandson, Scott (Tamiko) Lowery; granddaughter, Michelle Chapman; grandson, Shane Gann; grandson Billy Wayne (Katie)Kidd; granddaughter, Ashley Knowles; grandson, Brandon Knowles; granddaughter, Crystal Jenkins; grandson, Michael Prickett; and 11 great-grandchildren.
