Fred Thomas Duke, Jr. 1923-2021 Fred Thomas Duke, Jr. of Opelika was born to the late Fred Thomas Duke, Sr. and Nonie Ermon Bell Duke on June 23, 1923 and passed away at EAMC on August 30, 2021. He was 98 years old. Fred proudly served his country during WWII and was a 30 year retiree from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Marietta, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Nellene Duke. Fred is survived by his children, Joey Duke (Deborah) of Opelika, Dale Bruner of Harriman, TN, Ronnie Bruner (Jan) of Long Beach, MS and Anne Varner of Auburn; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Mullens and Nona Flagg. A private Graveside will be held at Auburn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the East Alabama Humane Society in Phenix City, former home of his faithful companion, Bitsy.
