Fred Leander "Andy" White, Jr.
1953-2022
Fred Leander "Andy" White, Jr. was born in Brewton, Alabama on April 9, 1953 and passed away in Alexander City, Alabama on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
A longtime resident of Auburn, Mr. White was an insurance agent and church choir director. He had a beautiful tenor voice and could light up a room with his humor, storytelling, and outgoing personality. Mr. White was an avid Auburn fan and was a proud member of The Lions' Club and the Auburn Athletic Directors' Club. He was a member of Auburn First Baptist Church and received much joy from singing in the sanctuary choir. Mr. White graduated from Florala High School in 1971, where he played on the football, baseball, and basketball teams. He was also a member of the marching band. Mr. White attended Samford University and graduated in 1976 with a major in Vocal Performance.
Mr. White deeply treasured his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Fred Leander White; mother, Mayo Baker White; and mother of his cherished daughters, Martha "Marti" Jones White.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Chaisson (Brian), and Rachel Raper (Tyson); 5 adored grandchildren, Aydence, Addyson, Anderson, Abigail, and Caroline; beloved sisters; Sally White, Neva Joyce Sullins (Eddie), and twin sister Kathy Fraley (David); as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Auburn First Baptist Church, with Dr. Tripp Martin presiding and Dale Peterson leading music.
A reception of friends will take place in the fellowship hall following the service. A private ceremony will take place at a later date at Lake Jackson in Florala, Alabama.
