Gina Berry 1961-2022 On Sunday, January 30, 2022, Gina Berry, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 60 in Opelika, AL, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Gina was born on July 23, 1961 in Montgomery, AL to Robert and Lataine (Mizell) Baker. She grew up in Clio, AL and attended Dixie Academy. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University in 1984, and practiced architecture, planning and program management, ultimately owning her own successful business. On August 13, 1989, she married Robert "Bob" Berry. They raised two sons - Robert II "Drew" and Alexander "Alex." Gina was an outstanding cook and hostess. Time spent with her was a true joy. She loved to travel and has seen sunsets from Vermont to Vienna. She was an artist, an avid reader, and enjoyed being in nature. In her later days, she was calmed by watching the deer roaming through the neighborhood. Gina touched the hearts of so many with her happy spirit and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Gina was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her mother, Lataine. She is survived by her husband Bob, her two children, Drew and Alex, her sister Judy Riley, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A private celebration of her life for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at the Frederick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama.
