James Emerson Hancock, Jr., age 72 of Opelika, was born in Moultrie, GA on May 5, 1940, and he died at home on February 1, 2013. He was a long-time resident of Lee County, Alabama, and retired from the City of Opelika Water Treatment Facility. Mr. Hancock was a very loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Hancock is survived by his children, Joey Hancock, Connie Hancock, James (Hope) Hancock, and Sara Jean Hancock; grandchildren, Angela, Jamie and his wife Sydney, Justin, Elizabeth, Jessica, Alex, and BreAnna; great grandchild, Dawson; step-children, Christy, Amy, and Tracy and their mother, Loretta Yarbrough; step-grandchildren, Hunter, Austin, Jon, Autumn, and Helen; and the mother of his children, Grace Frances Whitfield.
