James William Hudkins passed from this world to his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 7, 2018 at his home in Auburn, AL. He was 90 years old. James was born November 15, 1927 to Spence Arnold Hudkins and Opal Beane Hudkins in Little Otter, West Virginia. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1945 serving his country there and with the United States Air Force for 27 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Mr. Hudkins uniquely was a veteran of WWII, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Rose Ford, on May 16, 1953. She predeceased him in 2013. His legacy left two daughters that he loved dearly, Gale Ford, DVM, Hickory, NC and Judi (Mike) Terrell, Auburn, AL. Mr. Hudkins "PalPal" delighted in his three grandchildren, Nicole Terrell Redenius, Nathan ( Christian) Terrell and Austin ( Dr. Michele) Terrell. Adding to his joy and legacy are three great-granddaughters, Amerie Redenius, Linnea Redenius, and Clark Terrell and soon to be born great-grandson, James Terrell. Also surviving Mr. Hudkins is his sister Mary Jane Wickham of Arizona. Mr. Hudkins lived his life as a selfless servant and a friend to many. He delighted greatly in lending a hand to anyone in need and looking out for his daughters and grandchildren. As a former aircraft mechanic, he was willing to tackle any project no matter how big or small. James and wife Dorothy enjoyed living in many places during their Air Force career, including Sumter, South Carolina, Crestview, Florida, Japan, and ending his career at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois, where he got his great son-in-law! They moved to Auburn in 1993 and enjoyed many new experiences and so many great friends. Wherever they lived their church and church family were a very important part of their lives. They were members of Farmville Baptist Church, where James was a deacon, and Parkway Baptist Church. James Hudkins funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkway Baptist Church, Auburn, AL with the Reverend Jeff Redmond officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Military Honors and interment will follow at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church and East Alabama Food Bank. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
