Jimmy Lee Coxwell, Sr. 70, of Opelika, was born on November 24, 1944 to the late Otis Lee Coxwell and Minne Ruth Coxwell Hearn. He passed away April 12, 2015 at EAMC.
Mr. Coxwell was a loving husband to his wife Sue Kelley Coxwell for 53 years. He loved his family and his sons, Jimmy Lee Coxwell, Jr. and Rebecca and James Lynd Coxwell.
He is survived by his brothers, Willie Coxwell and Norma, Jerry Coxwell, his sister Grace Coxwell Lassiter and sister in law Evelyn Kelley, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coxwell worked for the Opelika Fire Department. He also worked at West Point Pepperell where he worked second shift. He was the supervisor for the spinning room.
Mr. Coxwell graduated from Opelika Technical College with a Degree in Drafting and a Business Degree from SUSCC. Later in life Mr. Coxwell was a field Engineer for Alabama Gas Company.
Mr. Coxwell had a love for Antique cars especially his 1956 Chevy and his 1931 Ford Model A. He was a member of East Alabama Old Car Club, The Rivercities Model A Club and the Low and Slow Cruisers of Opelika.
Mr. Coxwell was a Christian he had attended Philadelphia, Baptist. Chewacla Baptist and Gethsemane Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tommy Tumlinleading the service.
The family ask to please drive your antique cars if weather permitting.
Frederick-Dean Funeral Home will be handling the Services.
