John L. Johnson 1941-2022 John L. Johnson of Auburn was born in Florida to the late Carlis R. and Corine Peacock Johnson on February 15, 1941, and passed away on July 21, 2022. He was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Arwood Johnson; daughters, Amy Johnson Phillips and Joanie Dowdell (Warren); son, Greg Johnson (Dana); grandchildren, Amanda Daar (Blake), Nicholas Johnson (Alison), Joshua Powell (Kaitlin), Tatum Holcomb (Jacob), Katelyn Dowdell, James Dowdell (Lauren), Asher Johnson, Gary Phillips, Raina Phillips, and Johnson Phillips; 6 great-grandchildren, and many loving friends and other family members. John worked for Opelika Manufacturing for 25 years, West Point Stevens for 23 years, and the Auburn Walmart for 13 years. He never met a stranger, enjoyed coaching Dixie Youth Baseball, and thoroughly enjoyed all of the sports that his children and grandchildren participated in. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022, in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. CT. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 25, 2022 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika, Alabama.
